Herald toon reaches 80, now to gear

I started Hortis with the vague thought that it would be awesome to have a Herald of the Titans toon. But it was always some distant day away.

Then this week she went from level 70 to 80 and I had to decide if this was what I was really going to go for.
There's many achievements that I think would be nice to try but then I just figure some other day. But I've got this one stuck in my mind and I really think I could make this work.

I just have to get her some gear.

That's where the trouble is.

For the achievement, your toon can't equip anything higher then 226 except for weapon and off-hand which may be 232. It doesn't sound difficult until you realize that it is unlikely that you'll be able to dungeon que for the runs you'll need to get the decent gear. And you won't be able to join a pick-up group either because the leaders look for 90s to make the runs go faster. So it's whatever I can solo, convince someone to run for me, or JP vendor gear. There's actually a good bit of vendor gear. But it'll take almost 6000 JP to buy every bit of vendor gear that's useful and that'll still leave me short a weapon, ring, and trinket. I did learn that I can solo the normal Forge of Souls dungeon which has me thinking I could probably solo some of the original Wrath heroics. I was able to complete all but the final boss of the Pit of Saron. Hmm... anyway, here's my master gearlist. I'm not including any raid gear because I only wanted to include items that I felt I had a reasonable chance to aim for. I don't have anyone that I'm working towards this achievement with so most of this gear is stuff that I could conceivable aim for myself or be able to convince someone to farm for once or twice. If I work up the nerve to ask for help. I'm not very good with that. Worst that could happen is I'm told no but I still just chicken out.

Anyway my Heralds gear list for Prot Pally - I'm just including ilvl, where it's from, and how much it costs
Helm - 226 770 JP or 219 HToC
Neck - 226 405 JP or 219 HToC
Shoulder - 213 417 JP - 219 HToC
Back - 213 347 JP - 219 HoR
Chest - 226 770 JP - 219 PoS
Wrist - 213 377 JP (BOE)
Hands - 226 487 JP - 219 HoR - 200 ToC
Waist - 226 487 JP - 200 ToC
Legs - 226 770 JP - 219 FoS - 200 ToC
Feet - 213 417 JP  - 219 FoS - 200 ToC
Ring - 213 347 JP - 219 HToC - 200 HDTK - HHoS - HUK
Trinket - 200 348 JP - ToC - HAN
Weapon - 232 HPoS - 219 FoS - 219 HToC - 200 HUP
Shield - 232 HHoR - 226 (BOE Uld)

I highlighted the items with the highest ilvl in yellow. Those will be what I'm aiming for. The basic stats will be better and I don't have to worry about creating or breaking any set bonuses. (I had a look and I don't think all of them apply anymore). I did include one raid drop just because I had found it for a bargain price (at least I thought it was a decent price) on the AH and I thought it would do well for a shield especially since I don't see much point to farming the heroic versions of the ICC dungeons when all I could get from them is a shield and a weapon. I think it would be better to focus more on the normal versions, ToC, and getting JP. Although I won't be able to get ToC by myself. Which is why I tried to have some of the other options for ring and trinket. I'm going to have to be running a ton of cata dungeons to get the necessary JP.

ROYGBIV - Orangeadin

So much orange! My eyes! They can't take it! :)

I missed out on the fun for the red but I really wanted join in, so here's my entry for orange.

This mog is pretty class-restricted. It requires an alliance paladin. But if you don't include the tabard any paladin could wear it and the chestpiece looks good with the mog, it's just that the orange isn't so bright. But I really like how it looks. There's bright oranges, rust oranges, and browns and the dark purple makes a nice contrast to the oranges. I do wish the cloak didn't have the blue on it but otherwise it was a perfect compliment to the rest. I'm really proud of how all the pieces feel like they belong together.

This mog uses:
Helm: Helm of Blazing Glory
Shoulders: Heroic Shoulderguards of Winged Triumph
Chest: Merciless Gladiator's Lamellar Chestpiece
Shirt: Master Builder's Shirt
Tabard: Ironforge Tabard
Cloak: Woundlicker Cover
Hands: Heroic Grips of the Raging Giant
Waist: Belt of Living Obsidium
Legs: Conqueror's Aegis Legplates
Boots: Emberforge Elementium Boots
Weapon: Zoid's Firelit Greatsword

Mog the World Week 3-7

I've really fallen behind on updating these. I'll attempt to catch these up.

Week 2 - Estonia
I was attempting to make a Viking transmog. It turned out alright and is built for a shaman.
The pieces are horned viking helmet, sentry's shoulderguards, formidable cape, icy scale breastplate, blue martial shirt, heavy scorpid gauntlets, heavy scorpid belt, go-kan's golden trousers, hulking boots, falric's wrist-chopper, munificient bulwark

Week 3 - Tunisia
This is my lava burst shaman. I really like the flame theme that carries though it.
The pieces are crown of destruction, crater flame spaulders, the emperor's new cape, wrathfin armor, grubbis paws, bloodlust belt, thoracic flame kilt, magnificent greaves, ti'tahk, the steps of time

Week 4 - Sierra Leone
My green and teal monk. I really liked how the shirt seems to continue under the bracers. It's just the bracer's color but it's a pretty neat illusion. I'm not so keen on the weapon. I would probably choose something different for a transmog and I'd ditch the helm as well.
The pieces are huntsman's cap, forgotten mantle of the moon, jadefire cloak, gypsy tunic, creulean filigred doublet, throat-slitter gauntlets, brown belt of precarious balance, bandit pants, clefthoof wanderboots, shadowstrike

Week 5 - East Timor
This was an attempt to build a blood elf paladin look but I'm not completely sold on it. I think I should have played with it some more. Oh well.
The pieces are avenger's crown, shoulderguards of winged triumph, cloak of courage, warrior's embrace, red workman's shirt, blood knight tabard, replica lightforge gauntlets, lofty belt, lavacrest leggings, replica lightforge botts, twinblades of the phoenix

Week 6 - Sweden
My blue and gold druid.  I don't think the blue is quite the right shade on the chestpiece but with the blue from the staff and the glow from the shoulders it felt like it fit in well enough. This transmog could also be used for a monk if you would prefer.
The pieces are whisperwind headdress, passive resistor spaulders, watcher's cloak of vigilance, lo'ap's tunic of muck diving, gloves of the golden protector, sentinel girdle, kilt of the night strider, intensity

Week 7 - USA
Admiral USA. I really wanted to make a mog for the US and I got the idea that I wanted it to look like he was wearing some kind of uniform. There's no real uniform that looks like this but it fit what I wanted. It would have to be worn by a mage or warlock because of the sword since priests can't use swords.
The pieces are admiral's hat, aurora mantle, desperado cape, azure silk vest, white linen shirt, mindstorm wristbands, buccaneer's gloves, captain sander's sash, sage's pants, red woolen boots, revilgaz's cutlass, eerie stable lantern

Death of a computer and guild news

I was really excited about using vent and being able to play WoW with my guildies during spring break. But on Thursday my laptop died. It had a good run and I really expected something more spectacular for it's demise. It has tried to set itself on fire at least three different times. And each time it's warranty would fix it. But this last time, I dropped it... and accidents aren't covered. To fix it would take over $800. Definitely not worth it.

I suppose I should be glad I did get one last raid in before the death of my laptop. That week we had an announcement from two of our members. They were taking a break. One of them had been pretty sick and needed to take a break to focus on her health and the other was her husband and they were both taking a break to try and save money. I'll still see them hanging around hearthstone and diablo and they say that they plan to be back for WoD.

We were able to get them one last Garrosh kill. It was a pretty awesome battle. We've been stuck tackling heroics and haven't gotten to Garrosh since our first kill. So we were rusty. On the final pull of the night things were going well and when Garrosh was almost dead someone dropped an axe in the middle of the room. I was the only one who was too far away to be killed from it. It was also a good thing that Garrosh had some distance to travel because I managed to eek out the last bit of damage needed for the kill. It's always pretty awesome to be the last one standing. And a pretty good send-off for our two members.

Now we've got to try and find replacements. At least we'll just have to look for dps. Here's hoping things will keep happening.

Hearthstone - A list of some of my favorites

I have found hearthstone to be very addicting. I've recently been playing it more then Wow. So I thought I'd try and discuss hearthstone a bit. The problem? I'm not actually very good at it.

I'm certain I'm just middling at best. But I have improved and I'm learning more and more each day. But basically there are two parts to hearthstone. Constructed and arena play. I really like both. For constructed the my highest rank was raid leader which is 14 and the most wins I've had in arena is 8 wins. And those 8 wins was the only time I hit the magical 7 wins in arena.

So today I thought I'd share some of my favorite resources. Most of them are youtube channels that I really like and I'll try and explain briefly why I like them. But the best way I've found for getting better is to see what others are doing and hearing why they make the plays that they do. This list is just for getting started. I'm dividing these into general, arena, constructed, and just funny. If you know of a resource that's pretty awesome in some way that I didn't include then leave a comment. I'd definitely appreciate any help I can get in improving my game. And I can see that I'm going to have to make a place for hearthstone links during my spring break.
