ROYGBIV - Orangeadin

So much orange! My eyes! They can't take it! :)

I missed out on the fun for the red but I really wanted join in, so here's my entry for orange.

This mog is pretty class-restricted. It requires an alliance paladin. But if you don't include the tabard any paladin could wear it and the chestpiece looks good with the mog, it's just that the orange isn't so bright. But I really like how it looks. There's bright oranges, rust oranges, and browns and the dark purple makes a nice contrast to the oranges. I do wish the cloak didn't have the blue on it but otherwise it was a perfect compliment to the rest. I'm really proud of how all the pieces feel like they belong together.

This mog uses:
Helm: Helm of Blazing Glory
Shoulders: Heroic Shoulderguards of Winged Triumph
Chest: Merciless Gladiator's Lamellar Chestpiece
Shirt: Master Builder's Shirt
Tabard: Ironforge Tabard
Cloak: Woundlicker Cover
Hands: Heroic Grips of the Raging Giant
Waist: Belt of Living Obsidium
Legs: Conqueror's Aegis Legplates
Boots: Emberforge Elementium Boots
Weapon: Zoid's Firelit Greatsword

Mog the World Week 3-7

I've really fallen behind on updating these. I'll attempt to catch these up.

Week 2 - Estonia
I was attempting to make a Viking transmog. It turned out alright and is built for a shaman.
The pieces are horned viking helmet, sentry's shoulderguards, formidable cape, icy scale breastplate, blue martial shirt, heavy scorpid gauntlets, heavy scorpid belt, go-kan's golden trousers, hulking boots, falric's wrist-chopper, munificient bulwark

Week 3 - Tunisia
This is my lava burst shaman. I really like the flame theme that carries though it.
The pieces are crown of destruction, crater flame spaulders, the emperor's new cape, wrathfin armor, grubbis paws, bloodlust belt, thoracic flame kilt, magnificent greaves, ti'tahk, the steps of time

Week 4 - Sierra Leone
My green and teal monk. I really liked how the shirt seems to continue under the bracers. It's just the bracer's color but it's a pretty neat illusion. I'm not so keen on the weapon. I would probably choose something different for a transmog and I'd ditch the helm as well.
The pieces are huntsman's cap, forgotten mantle of the moon, jadefire cloak, gypsy tunic, creulean filigred doublet, throat-slitter gauntlets, brown belt of precarious balance, bandit pants, clefthoof wanderboots, shadowstrike

Week 5 - East Timor
This was an attempt to build a blood elf paladin look but I'm not completely sold on it. I think I should have played with it some more. Oh well.
The pieces are avenger's crown, shoulderguards of winged triumph, cloak of courage, warrior's embrace, red workman's shirt, blood knight tabard, replica lightforge gauntlets, lofty belt, lavacrest leggings, replica lightforge botts, twinblades of the phoenix

Week 6 - Sweden
My blue and gold druid.  I don't think the blue is quite the right shade on the chestpiece but with the blue from the staff and the glow from the shoulders it felt like it fit in well enough. This transmog could also be used for a monk if you would prefer.
The pieces are whisperwind headdress, passive resistor spaulders, watcher's cloak of vigilance, lo'ap's tunic of muck diving, gloves of the golden protector, sentinel girdle, kilt of the night strider, intensity

Week 7 - USA
Admiral USA. I really wanted to make a mog for the US and I got the idea that I wanted it to look like he was wearing some kind of uniform. There's no real uniform that looks like this but it fit what I wanted. It would have to be worn by a mage or warlock because of the sword since priests can't use swords.
The pieces are admiral's hat, aurora mantle, desperado cape, azure silk vest, white linen shirt, mindstorm wristbands, buccaneer's gloves, captain sander's sash, sage's pants, red woolen boots, revilgaz's cutlass, eerie stable lantern

Tabard of the Hand Transmog

I was pretty excited when I learnt about Sam's Transmog Contest I just knew I had to try my hand. I love the tabard of the hand. I have to get it for all my draenei but I've never thought to make a transmog for it.

This first look is for a paladin. The items can be found here.  I really wanted others to be able to tell at a glance that this was a draenei paladin and no other race or class would be able to wear this miss. I liked the legs because the yellow felt like the yellow in the tabard but darker. I then moved to the shoulders and I loved the flaming sigil because it reminded me once again of the design in the tabard. I went with the book belt because I thought it went well and as a paladin she would want to keep her book close by. For there I began filling in the other pieces. I noticed later that like the tabard the look starts with darker colors at the hoof and becomes lighter as it moves up. I decided for the shield to go with the blue and yellow crystal one because it brought just a little more blue into the ensemble since there was also some from the shoulders and legs. The sword just picks up more of the browns and yellows. I'm really happy with how this turned out. If I ever returned to being Alliance I'm going to have to track down all these pieces for my paladin.

The other look is for a shaman. I really wanted to make sure that when you saw this look you knew it was a shaman and not just any shaman but an enhancement shaman. The items I used can be found here. I loved the legs and how the colors looked with the tabard. The shoulders piced up the dark color while also picking up the bright yellow. I tried to pick pieces that were dark with just a little pop of the yellow. I like this look but the more I look at the chest I wish it had sleeves that went all the way to the gloves. I'm also feeling iffy about the boots. I think people will either like this look or wonder what the hell I was thinking.

Wishful Warlock Mogs

I have a lot of trouble putting together transmogs for my warlock. Not neccesarily coming up with ideas. Just tracking them down. But I did have Vâunt transmogged for a bit while she was in Shadow Rising.

I thought it was a nice take on the black mageweave set. But I seem to have...umm... disenchanted the belt. What? She stopped mogging for awhile. She wasn't raiding so she could wear her pajamas for all she cared. But now that she's raiding she wants to look good. And this number was out. I mean... sure we could have tracked down another belt but she really wanted something new.

The one idea I put together that I really liked was this one. I think it brings out the color of her eyes. I had the robe but the rest of the pieces... That belt will never be on the ah. Neither will those gloves. Time to reevaluate this look.
Here we go. I think I like these gloves better and that belt is growing on me. So off to get some shoulders. BWL, cool, I know how to solo that place. OMG! The bosses only drop 2 pieces of tier? Didn't 40 people use to run these things? Yeah... I keep trying but so far, no luck. The look just doesn't seem evil and warlocky without those shoulders! Better come up with new ideas and present them to the picky 'lock.

How about this?
Uh. No. No. That look says priest. Besides, do I really want to go tackle Black Temple by myself? Next!

Ok... well this doesn't involve any dungeon drops.
And what's this supposed to say? Definitely not warlock. And you know what? I'm not liking red. Red is a bad color. I want green like my fire. Or purple. Purple is pretty.
Alright then how...
I like it! Finally we're getting someplace. Wait. Wait. Is that Sunwell gear!! Are you out of your mind? Sunwell! If Black Temple is a no then what makes you think I'm going to Sunwell?

uh... How about some pvp gear?
No
Why not?
Because I don't pvp.
But you could have this

Well! What are you doing? Staring into space? Que me up! That's one awesome looking dress! And those shoulders! The eyes! They move!

Ok. ok. I thought you didn't want to pvp.

Some time later...
You can stop now. You've got the pieces you need. Stop. Stop. Ok, you know what. Nevermind.

Watches in exasperation as warlock continues running around bgs casting chaos bolt and cackling like mad when it hits a player for half their health.

At least now she can look pretty while killing stuff. Although... that staff...

My current transmogs

I used to have a lot of trouble coming up with sets for my death knight to wear. I still have trouble but I've finally settled on a few sets that I would really like to gather for her. It's hard to find the right blend of gorgeous and bad-ass. Especially for a plate wearer that doesn't want eye-popping color or lots of skin.

Frost
I had reached a point where I could no longer ignore just how awful my dk was looking. She had one of the mouth belts. Eww... I really don't like the current dk teir. All those mouths. Ick. So I decided to create some mogs. This was one of my first attempts.

I really like this look. I had started with the kilt because I love plate kilts. I really wish there were more of them. I hadn't come up with any ideas for the starting area dk one because I had a really hard time finding chest pieces that would flow together with it like they belonged. I thought this one was one of the best examples I could find. The shoulders added dk toughness and I was really pleased with the final result. Then I realized I had everything but the shoulders! I found some that I thought would work alright and went to transmog my frost set to it. Then I picked up some new shoulders in the raid.

I really liked how they looked so I left them alone. I also had new gloves from a scenario and I felt they worked well unmogged as well. I was really happy that this axe model worked with my transmog since I really, really like the look of it.

When I finally picked up two one-handed weapons it was time to retire the axe and find something new. I went with really bright blue swords from Naxx 25. I still can't believe I got it on the first try. So here we are at my current transmog. I'm really rather happy with it.

Blood
Since I was mogging my frost set I felt I should come up with something for my blood set. That was harder. I tried several different things but nothing was working. Then I realized I had some dark purple armor that went well under the Cloud Serpent tabard.

Add in some green and the Lei Shen lfr axe and it was a decent look. I was alright with the look but I wasn't as trilled with it as my frost set. So I tried to come up with something else
I liked this look but lfr was being stingy with those pants.
So I came up with another variation of the outfit. With another pair of difficult pants.
So I tried to create the look using a pair of pants I actually knew I could get. But It's not looking as good as the rest. I feel like I'm going backwards. So it's time to start all over again. This time I looked though my voidstorage and tried to get pieces that went together.

I came up with this look. I started with Askandi, greatsword of the brotherhood, moved to the shoulders and chestpiece and the outfit just flew from there. It's actually very similar to something I had come up with for my human dk. The only change is using the dk kilt instead of Uld 25 pink pants and different gloves. But it's a nice look and I would only need to track down the boots and the belt. So I went to go kill Twin Emperors.

This is what I'm currently using. the belt was a quest reward that I knew I could get. The boots were a surprise. I had a grey pair that I had planned to use until I could get the pink ones but they were so bright I couldn't keep using them. So I wanted to see what boots I actually had. I was surprised that they were black and pink! I like them much better then my original choice. The pink is more of a surprise on her feet.

Going to the Oscars

Matty from Sugar & Blood has a birthday coming up on the Oscars and has even put together a mog contest.  Basically it's recreating three characters from any movie.  We're even allowed to mix and match armor types to get the look we want.

The movie I choose was Disney's Beauty and the Beast, mostly because I really wanted to make a Beast :)

The Beast

And my attempt to replicate his fancy dress. I choose a Worgen because the physical features seemed to match the closest. The way the legs bend and end in claws, the pointy teeth, pointy fingernails, fluffy head. I just wish they had a brown Worgen male color. This greyish color was the closest I could get.  And the big winner for choosing a Worgen for the beast is Two Forms. After all the Beast is really human.  I thought I would have to find a blue shirt and then add a white shirt underneath but this vest already had the look but it didn't have sleeves.  But the blue shirt matched fairly well and added some fancy gold to make the outfit look more rich.  I was really happy when the belt matched the design on the sleeves and helped tie the pieces together even more.

Belle

Belle I wanted as human and I was really torn about trying to make her fancy dress because it would be really difficult to try and replicate.  I thought about using a yellow robe but I didn't feel any of them where really quite right. I like the chestpiece but think there needs to be a decent yellow kilt in the game somewhere. So I went with a yellowish sort of kilt and used the belt to hide some of the purple and add some more of the really bright yellow. I think it's an ok idea but I'm not as happy with this look as I was with the Beasts.

Gaston

Gaston is a blood elf. While Gaston has a more angular face and more chest hair then a blood elf I felt the most important thing for choosing a model for Gaston was his character.  Gaston was considered the most handsome man in town and he was very arrogant about it.  And what could be more handsome and arrogant then a blood elf? I was really happy with how well this outfit came together from the open-necked shirt to the hunting boots all the pieces just seemed to fall into place.  If you wanted to use the outfit for a mog there's even a decent set of red shoulders that you can use that won't detract from the overall look.
