New Project or What to do when there's realm maintance

The servers were down for maintenance today and I found myself with free time and no WoW to play. I was a bit lost at first. I've been pushing to level my hunter because I want a lightening worg before the Vale is destroyed. That and running lfr on Tyle was all I really had planned for today. So much for that. So I decided it's about time I stopped letting photoshop intimidate me and try to color something. I love using photoshop for manulating images but for coloring? Give me a box of crayons! So then I had to figure out what to color and I figured I'd draw my dk. I didn't want to try anything to realistic and I didn't want to spend forever drawing when what I really wanted was to color. I've got a good start and I really want to show it. I could use any comments you might have. The face is the most done part and the skirt and hands are the least. I figured I'd post it and try to show some progress as I keep working on it. If nothing else it will be fasinating for me to see how it evolves. And be gentle. I'm still learning and I was using a mouse since I couldn't get my tablet to work. Actually I'm pretty happy with it. I am surprised the lines don't look more wobbly then they do. And I'm blabbing. But I'm anxious. I don't think of myself as an artist. I'm not usually drawn to drawing stuff but when I do I try hard to make stuff look good. Usually my expectations are higher then my ability. This time I told myself I don't care about accuracy. I just want recognizable. Although... shadows... hmm... but I think she looks pretty sassy. I was surprised how well it all came though. I have trouble getting emotions on faces and I keep thinking she needs a nose... I'll stop. I could keep going forever. Anyway... hopefully soon I'll get some more work done on it.

  1. That looks pretty awesome, Tyle! I'm curious to see what she'd look like with a weapon or two. =)

    1. I couldn't figure out how to draw the swords from the front and I didn't want to spend much time with drawing. But thanks. I do like her.

    1. Lol. One thing at a time! If I start another they both will never get finished.

  4. I like it!

I think the slightly wobbly lines make it look more real vs just some sketch.

Can't wait to see the final form. :D

    1. Thanks. I'll have to get to work on it. And pay attention to what I'm doing. I was coloring this morning and realized I put it all on the wrong layer and couldn't back track far enough to remove it. So had to revert it to the last time I'd saved it. So much for that work. But I learned from it.
